My background is in Contemporary Dance and Performance Art. I have a degree from The Northern School of Contmporary Dance where I trained from the age 16. Prior to that I had no formal dance training. I was forever dancing though (if I wasn't perfecting tricks on my rollerboots!) and to every kind of music.

After having my daughter early in life I went on to work within the local community in a variety of ways. Everything from supporting children at the local gym club with creative floor warm ups to choreographing street dance routines for teenagers to perform at the 'Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival'. I also hold a Level 3 TA certificate as I supported teaching and learning within schools when my daughter was growing up.

After gaining a Dance Leaders in the Community Award I did my Exercise to Music qualification and chose to move in to dance fitness. I was a ZUMBA fitness instructor for 12 years and had a great time delivering weekly (we came here to sweat! type of) classes to women and a few brave men! between the ages of 18 and 80.

Continued professional development has included contemporary dance fitness 'FLOWETIC' classes and 'Move It Or Lose It' chairbased movement classes for less physically abled bodies. I am passionate about creating inspiring, accessible, positively motivating dance activity for everybody and any body's body no matter what age!

Having experienced major burn-out and various health issues since 2021 I have had no choice but to put on hold the highly aerobic, massively choreographed dance fitness classes I was teaching and instead move in to a more creative and holistic way of working. My healing journey has led me to explore  practices including breathwork and meditation. It has also led me to finding 'Groove' a new type of accessible dance class experience which incorporates simple choreographed structure that can be performed in a variety of ways, many different types of dance style and music genre and guided creative exploration. It is the most accessible and enjoyable class I have ever participated in. It has reminded me why I love dance so much and is a work-out for the mind, body and spirit which no one can get wrong!. I will be up and running with classes soon.

So many people have told me over the years that they can’t dance and so they just don’t. I want to prove them wrong, inspire them to move, help them to stop caring about what they look like and enjoy their physicality!

Let's dance!. X
